In His Time

In His Time

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. Boy, do we get that!!! It’s been such an exciting time to watch the Lord move in ways we never would have imagined. On the other hand, it’s taken a lot of faith and patience to hold fast when God didn’t move like we thought He would or when we thought He would.

As it turns out, remodeling an old house takes a long, long, long time. . . especially when there are only two people working on it full time and one of those people is—well, let’s just say “handyman-challenged.” Yes, things are taking far longer than we had hoped or anticipated, but praise the Lord, we are making progress and doing our best to trust in God’s perfect timing.

Working on a Building

Working on a Building

There’s an old bluegrass song entitled Working on a Building. For obvious reasons, that song has been stuck in my head over the past week or so. As I mentioned in our last update, we’re updating our house to prepare it for sale. We were able to move into my in-laws’ basement last week as planned, and then the real work on the house began. Jason started the process of scraping and sanding ceilings while I worked to pack up nineteen years worth of stuff. It’s been an adventure, let me tell you.

This Old House

This Old House

This week has been another busy—and somewhat stressful—week. But, before I get into that, let me tell you about our weekend. We had the opportunity to drop-in on a couple of small country churches on Sunday. I use the word “small,” but in God’s eyes, there is no such thing as a small church, for where two or three are gathered in His name, He is in the midst. Anyway, we had a great time with each of these local churches and were invited to present our mission goals. I also had the privilege of singing and playing an offertory in the evening service. The pastor and his wife treated us to dinner afterward, and we had a very pleasant time of fellowship. We feel as if we’ve made new friends, and we’re looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in both of these ministries.

Where To Begin?

Where To Begin?

It has been a crazy busy week for this missionary couple. As I told you last week, on Monday, we picked up the Downeys from the airport. On Tuesday, we spent the day dealing with and exploring a decision I’ll tell you about in just a minute. Wednesday was “catch up” day as Jason got on the phone, and I got on the computer to try and get done as much ministry-related work as possible. On Thursday, we went to my sister’s house in the early afternoon for a 4th of July celebration, then hurried over to our church, where we hosted another 4th of July party for the Downeys and their family. By the time we got home late Thursday night, we had one frazzled pup who required us to stay up for another hour or so to comfort him. By Friday, I needed a day of recovery and a trip to the chiropractor (I wish I was joking). It was an insanely busy but exciting week!

Another Church Takes Us On for Support

Another Church Takes Us On for Support

I’m a bit late writing this update, but it’s been a crazy week thus far. On Sunday, we were privileged to spend the entire day with the wonderful people of Fairview Baptist Church. Jason taught Sunday School and presented our burden in the morning service. I also sang. At the end of the service, there was a baptism service for three precious young people. What a joy to witness these little ones stepping forward in faith and dedicating their lives to the Lord.

After the morning service, we enjoyed a good time of food and fellowship with the pastor and his family. It was a joyous time! That evening, Jason preached, and then, we received an additional blessing. The pastor called for a motion for the church to take us on for monthly support. There were many motions, and the vote was unanimous. This has only happened a few times so far in our deputation, and each time, it blesses our hearts beyond measure.
