Glad Reunion Day

Glad Reunion Day

This weekend was one of memories and reunions. It began on Friday, June 21st when Jason and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. Though we weren’t able to spend much time together due to Jason’s work schedule, we managed a nice dinner out on Saturday.

On Sunday, we celebrated another milestone—the one-year anniversary of our surrender to the call of missions. This was an exciting time for us, and the Lord worked it out where we could spend the day surrounded by life-long friends.

Merry Hearts

Merry Hearts

The past couple of weeks have been full of activity, excitement, and yes, a bit of drama. We began the month of June at our home church, Bible Baptist in Pickens, for the church’s 50th Homecoming celebration. It was so good to be with our church family again and to celebrate such a milestone. That afternoon, we were also able to stop by and visit a shut-in couple at the rehab center where they’re currently staying. This precious couple are like grandparents to us and have been faithful members of our church for nearly the entire time the church has been in operation. I won’t go into detail about their health issues, but if you would, please keep the Pattersons in your prayers. They need physical healing, and they’re facing some difficult days ahead if things continue as they are.

What a Ride!

What a Ride!

More often than not, deputation feels like a roller coaster. It’s fun, exciting, and scary all at the same time. Combine that with the ups and downs of everyday life, and well, let’s just say it makes for an interesting ride. Let’s start with the “ups” of the past couple of weeks.

During the week of the 19th, we were at a Missions Conference in Dickson, TN, with the precious people of Hillview Baptist Church. I can honestly say it was one of the most pleasant meetings we’ve been at since beginning deputation. They took such great care of us and welcomed us like we were family. We had such a joyous time worshiping with them and getting to know them better. The preaching each night was phenomenal, and we were convicted by the messages we heard. And as strange as it sounds, some nights we laughed so hard it hurt. By the time we left, we felt energized and renewed, both physically and spiritually. As an added blessing, the church decided to take us on for monthly support. What a thrill! All in all, it was a remarkable week.

Time to Catch Up

Time to Catch Up

You’ve probably noticed it’s been a while since our last update, and for that, I apologize. Between traveling, working, and dealing with some health issues, life has been more than hectic. But, I guess that’s the life of a missionary on deputation, right?

In all seriousness, over the past month, we’ve been in several meetings and revivals across the upstate of South Carolina and had the opportunity to meet some precious new friends in Christ. Even though most of our meetings have been drop-ins, the Lord has blessed us financially and given us the opportunity to share our burden nearly everywhere we’ve been. It’s been exciting to watch God move!

When God Is On Your Side. . .

When God Is On Your Side. . .

Before I tell you about our meetings this week, I’d like to share with you how God has, once again, proven Himself faithful. Since the beginning of the year, one or both of our vehicles have been in the shop for much-needed repairs. We’ve replaced tires, a water pump, hoses, belts, a distributor (twice), and much more. Hundreds of dollars have been spent over the past few months in car repairs, and to be honest, it was getting discouraging.

While speaking with my mom about the issue, I commented that I didn’t know what was going on. She replied, “I know exactly what’s going on. You need your vehicle to travel to these meetings and raise your support to get to Wales. Who do you think doesn’t want you to do that?” She was right, and I knew it. In fact, I had known it all along. Satan was fighting, but fortunately, God was too. This week, we received a check for a generous amount of money from someone who wanted to be a blessing and share a blessing she had received from the Lord. This amount covered the cost of a lot of the repairs, but more than that, it served as a reminder that God is on our side. We are doing His will, and He is working on our behalf. Sometimes it seems like Satan is winning, but this week, we were reminded that God will always have the victory and will always provide for His children. Amen and hallelujah!
