Time to Catch Up

Time to Catch Up

You’ve probably noticed it’s been a while since our last update, and for that, I apologize. Between traveling, working, and dealing with some health issues, life has been more than hectic. But, I guess that’s the life of a missionary on deputation, right?

In all seriousness, over the past month, we’ve been in several meetings and revivals across the upstate of South Carolina and had the opportunity to meet some precious new friends in Christ. Even though most of our meetings have been drop-ins, the Lord has blessed us financially and given us the opportunity to share our burden nearly everywhere we’ve been. It’s been exciting to watch God move!

When God Is On Your Side. . .

When God Is On Your Side. . .

Before I tell you about our meetings this week, I’d like to share with you how God has, once again, proven Himself faithful. Since the beginning of the year, one or both of our vehicles have been in the shop for much-needed repairs. We’ve replaced tires, a water pump, hoses, belts, a distributor (twice), and much more. Hundreds of dollars have been spent over the past few months in car repairs, and to be honest, it was getting discouraging.

While speaking with my mom about the issue, I commented that I didn’t know what was going on. She replied, “I know exactly what’s going on. You need your vehicle to travel to these meetings and raise your support to get to Wales. Who do you think doesn’t want you to do that?” She was right, and I knew it. In fact, I had known it all along. Satan was fighting, but fortunately, God was too. This week, we received a check for a generous amount of money from someone who wanted to be a blessing and share a blessing she had received from the Lord. This amount covered the cost of a lot of the repairs, but more than that, it served as a reminder that God is on our side. We are doing His will, and He is working on our behalf. Sometimes it seems like Satan is winning, but this week, we were reminded that God will always have the victory and will always provide for His children. Amen and hallelujah!

God Knows Best

God Knows Best

We had a meeting scheduled for this past Sunday, April 7th, but due to a scheduling conflict, we had to postpone that meeting until later in the year. As we discovered on Sunday, God had a plan all along.

Since we no longer had anything scheduled, we decided on a couple of drop-ins. On Sunday morning, we visited with the charming people of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Mauldin, SC. Though the congregation was small, there was a lot of love poured out to us. The church has been without a pianist and a song leader for some time now, so they were thrilled to discover that I (Dana) would play for the service. I admit, it was a bit nerve-wracking for me to play for those who don’t understand my limitations on the piano, but after hearing one of the men mention in prayer what a blessing it was to hear the sweet music of the piano again, I realized I had nothing to worry about. And what a joy it was to play such a beautiful instrument in a time of worship! I also had the privilege to sing during the morning service.

When Doves Fly. . .or Not

When Doves Fly. . .or Not

On Sunday, March 31, we had one of our busiest days thus far in deputation. We were invited to Calvary Baptist Church in Statham, GA. While there, Jason taught Sunday School, preached the morning message, and preached and presented our burden in the evening service. I also sang in the evening service. It was a crazy busy day, but we considered it an honor that the pastor trusted us enough to turn over all three services to us.

The people of Calvary were very welcoming and so precious, and the pastor and his wife went above and beyond to make us feel at home and at ease. Besides taking us out to eat (twice), they offered us their lovely home for the afternoon so we could rest and recover before the evening service. We had such a wonderful time chatting with them and getting to know them better. We bonded over our mutual love of animals and our many crazy pet tales. It was such a fabulous day, and the church was more than generous with their love offering as well.

Heading South

Heading South

Last Sunday, our deputation journey took us to a little town called Eufaula, Alabama. It was a beautiful place with historical charm, quaint shops, and even alligators. Fortunately, we didn’t see any of the latter. We did witness, however, the devastation left behind after a tornado struck the town a few months back. The firehouse and airport were mangled beyond repair. The tops of trees were snapped in half and carried away to parts unknown. It was quite a sight to behold.

We spent the weekend with the friendly people of Grace Baptist Church and were able to take part in the Sunday School and evening service by presenting our ministry and preaching/teaching. The church consists of many young people, and it was a joy to see so many little ones being raised to serve and honor God.
