Rest and Refreshment

Rest and Refreshment

As we head into the week of Thanksgiving, we find ourselves extremely grateful for the past couple of weeks. Beginning on the 13th of November, we attended the annual Macedonia World Baptist Missions conference in Statesville, TN. Wow! What an amazing time of food, fellowship, and worship. The singing was fantastic. The preaching was indescribable. And the spirit of both conviction and comfort was overwhelming. It was such a delight to reunite with other missionaries with whom we have crossed paths as well as meet several other families who are currently on deputation or furlough. It was such a wonderful time, and we left feeling renewed and refreshed.

Ten Things That Your Missionary Will Not Tell You

Ten Things That Your Missionary Will Not Tell You

I read an article this morning that convicted me so much that I feel the need to share it with you. Though Jason and I are just beginning our missionary journey and haven’t even begun our work on the field, we can already relate to a few of the points the writer states in the following article. We’ve also had the opportunity to hang around enough missionaries in the past few months to know that what is said here is true. Very sad, but true. I share this today as a reminder to pray for and reach out to missionaries across the world. We’re people too, and we need your love, prayers, and encouragement.

Back on Track

As you can see from our updates (or lack thereof), December was a slow month as far as our mission efforts are concerned. With the Christmas season in full swing, it’s difficult to book meetings for the month and even to get ahold of pastors. It’s also a bit daunting to do drop-ins during December because many churches alter service times because of special programs. Still, we enjoyed spending the month with our church family and being a part of the yearly Christmas play. The real blessing is that God honored our previous mission efforts as two churches and one couple contacted us with the news they were planning to take us on for support beginning in January. Praise the Lord!

And We're Off!!!

And We're Off!!!

On Thursday and Friday of last week, we attended the two-day mini orientation with our mission board.  They poured a fountain of information into us to give us the knowledge and tools we would need to begin our missionary journey in earnest.  With that training complete, we are now cleared to start making phone calls and booking meetings.

Currently, we are scheduled to attend a local mission conference at the end of next week and another conference in Tennesse toward the end of October.  We hope to be able to book many more meetings in the following weeks as it is our hope to go on full-time deputation by the beginning of next year.  To accomplish that would take a miracle, but thankfully, we know Someone who excels at doing the impossible, and we know if it is His will, it will happen.

It's Official

It's Official

Macedonia World Baptist Missions contacted us this morning and let us know we have been accepted to join their team.  So, it's official--we're missionaries.  We have a call, a destination, and a board.  Now, all we need is support.  We hope and pray it won't take us long to raise the funds necessary to begin our service in Wales, but it's all in God's hands and His timing.

We are scheduled to attend a two-day orientation with the mission board in a couple of weeks.  After that, from what we understand, we're free to begin deputation.  That means we'll be looking for churches who are willing to have us come in and present our ministry.  If you're interested in helping us, please contact us at 2wales4christ@gmail.com.
