Another Church Takes Us On for Support

Another Church Takes Us On for Support

On Sunday, January 20th, we were privileged to spend the day with the precious people at White Horse Heights Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. This church holds a special place in our hearts as they were one of the main contributors toward the funds we raised last year to make our trip to the UK. In a way, they had a part in the Lord’s calling us to be missionaries to Wales because their generous donations helped make it possible for us to go to Wales in May. We couldn’t wait to be with them and share how the Lord moved in our hearts during and after that trip.

Watching God Provide

Watching God Provide

With deputation ahead of us, we needed some new clothes, particularly Jason.  Being one to prefer casual clothes like jeans and pullovers, he was desperately in need of some suits and dress slacks.  Of course, suits aren't cheap, so we decided to begin our shopping at the local thrift store.  (Who doesn't love thrift stores, right?)

When we arrived and started perusing, we were delighted to see they had many suits to choose from and the price for two-piece suits was $15.  Not bad!  Our next task was to see if the store had any suits in Jason's size.  At 6'2," he's not the easiest person to fit, but lo and behold, there was a handful to choose from, plus a couple of suit coats.

After trying on the selection of clothing, Jason found two suits, one suit coat, and two pairs of slacks that fit like a dream.  We were thrilled, but God hadn't finished pouring out the blessings yet.

Walking and Waiting

Walking and Waiting

I came across this quote in my devotions yesterday:  "Waiting is much more difficult than walking."  I heartily agree with that statement, and so does Barnabas.  In fact, he demonstrated this very principle on our morning walk.

Our dog is all about the go.  He loves to walk and hike, to explore and sniff.  Unfortunately for him, our morning walks involve crossing a few busy streets, which means we have to stop and wait for traffic to clear.  Barnabas spent some time roaming the streets before we adopted him, so he has great respect for traffic and knows to stay clear of cars.  That being said, the process of waiting to cross the street nearly drives him crazy.  As each car passes, he looks up at me like, "Can we go now?"  If I give him the go ahead, he takes off like a horse out of the gate.  If I tell him we have to wait a little longer, the look he throws my way is comical because it reminds me a sullen teenager who isn't getting his or her way. (If you've ever owned a dog, you know how much they can act like children.)

Our Interview with the Mission Board

Last Tuesday, we traveled to Georgia for our initial interview with the committee at Macedonia World Baptist Missions.  To say we were nervous would be the understatement of the year.  We wanted this interview to go well, but neither of us are comfortable in a setting where we are required to answer questions and pray our answers are those the committee is looking for.  God gave us grace, and all in all, the interview went well.  The committee was impressed by our attitudes and gave us a unanimous approval.
