An Unexpected Surprise

An Unexpected Surprise

As I mentioned earlier, the downtime during our trip to Milan, Tennessee gave Jason the opportunity to get on the phone and make some contacts for potential meetings. One of the calls he made was to a friend of ours who is the assistant pastor at a local church. The intent of the call was to book a meeting for sometime in the future, but the assistant pastor informed us that was not necessary. Because of our connections with the church and some of the staff, the assistant asked us if we could drop off some information for him to mention at the next quarterly meeting with the deacons, which happened to be just a few days away.

This week was our second missions conference, this time at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Milan, TN. While we were eight hours from home, we still had the privilege of being around long-time friends. Ironically, we had never met these friends face to face. Our relationship formed and has been sustained online through email and social media. It was such a joy to finally meet in person and to have time to spend with them in their neck of the woods.

Pickens Independent Baptist

We were privileged to spend the entire day with the good people of Pickens Independent Baptist Church in Pickens, SC. It reminded us so much of our home church, it was a breath of fresh air. Jason had the Sunday School hour to present our burden and teach, and I was asked to sing. Jason was also given an opportunity to share our ministry during the morning service and to preach for the evening service, when I was again given the opportunity to sing. One loving family took us out to eat after the morning service, and another took us out after the evening service. While we enjoyed the food, it was the fellowship that made our hearts sing. The entire day was a joy and blessing!

Bittersweet

Bittersweet

Yesterday was our official last service at our home church, Bible Baptist Church. We’ve been serving there for nearly 19 years, so it was difficult to resign our positions as pianist, audio/visual engineer, and Sunday School teacher. Over the years, there has been a lot of laughter and a few tears, but through it all, we’ve grown to love our pastor, his wife, and the good people at Bible. We hope to stop in from time to time, but we know the sooner we begin dropping in to other churches and booking meetings to present our burden for Wales, the sooner we’ll be able to raise enough support to become full-time missionaries in Wales. So, as much as it breaks our hearts, we had to say “goodbye” to our church family for a while, knowing they will be praying for us while we’re away. We will also be praying for the church and all those who have taken up the responsibility to fill our posts. We love you, Bible Baptist family!
