Recent Updates -- The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
/Here’s our new ride and also our new home. Isn’t she a beauty?
The month of March was so hectic, I felt it would be best to format this update a little differently than usual. Instead of long paragraphs about the many events that have taken place, I’m just going to give the highlights of the month—some good (great, even), some bad, and a few ugly.
On February 26th, I found out that my Bible study on dealing with anxiety and depression, Rise Up and Build, is being used for two different study groups—one church ladies’ group and one group of prison women. I feel so blessed to know God is using this series to help others.
On March 3rd, we attended our college alumni meeting and met up with some old friends.
On March 4th, with the help of our media director at Macedonia, we completed our video presentation for our mission work—something that has been in progress for many months.
On March 8th, we had two meetings in North Carolina, and unfortunately, I (Dana) was suffering a horrible case of allergies that completely stripped me of my voice for several days.
On March 11th-15th, we had a local missions conference where we had the opportunity to present our ministry and sing.
At this local meeting, we received one of the most precious donations we’ve ever gotten. A young boy surrendered a pocketful of money he’d been saving for Legos because he was so moved by Jason’s presentation and wanted us to get to Wales so we could tell them about Jesus. Talk about tears flowing!
At this same meeting, we met a Welshman whose grandmother was saved during the Welsh revival. What a joy to talk with him!
On March 17th, we FINALLY sold our house. The new owners are sweet people who really love the house, so we wish them the best.
On March 18th, we purchased our “new” motorhome—a 20-year-old Itasca Horizon.
Also, on March 18th, we received a phone call telling us that our meeting for Sunday in West Virginia had been rescheduled due to the current state of our country and the CoVid-19 scare.
On March 19th, we celebrated my birthday by moving into our “new” home. So exciting to have our own space again!
We spent the majority of our time getting our stuff moved into the motorhome and fixing up a few things here and there. In fact, we’re still tweaking things to make this space feel the most like home, and it really does.
We got word that the Macedonian European conference (which we were hoping to attend) was canceled, as well as our orientation, which was scheduled to take place in June.
On April 1st, Jason did his first Facebook Live video for our Wednesday night church service. I know he was scared to death, but he did great!
Currently, we have one meeting scheduled for April 19th-22nd, but we’re not sure if that meeting will take place. We also have a few things scheduled in May, including a speaking engagement at a ladies’ meeting for me (Dana) at a local church.
On April 8th-10th, I’m scheduled to join Tennille Downey (missionary to Wales) and other UK women for a virtual retreat since their annual meeting was canceled.

I think that’s about it though I’m sure there’s much more I could say. As you can see, it’s been an action-packed month, but despite the chaos in the world, we feel safe in God’s will and at peace with our current situation. Sure, we want to be traveling so we can wrap up deputation as quickly as possible and get to Wales, but God has given us this time to get settled into our new home and also to get refreshed and renewed. We are so thankful for His goodness and can’t wait to see what He has in store for us in this new leg of our journey!
