Responding to Invitations

On Sunday morning, January 27th, we enjoyed a great service with the friendly people at Abner Creek Baptist Church in Greer, SC. Our chiropractor is a member there and had invited us to drop in when we could, so we did. We felt very welcomed and had the opportunity to meet many precious people and to speak with the pastor about possibly gaining some financial support. Though we didn’t have the opportunity to present our ministry then, we were able to share our burden for Wales with many individuals who took a great interest in our call.

Unfortunately, by the end of the service, something came over me (Dana), and I began to feel quite ill. Jason took me home immediately following the service, and I remained there for the remainder of the day. I was so sick that Jason was afraid to leave me on my own, so he stayed with me that night. I hated that we missed the opportunity to drop in on another church, but I was in no condition to go anywhere, and whatever had ahold of me lasted throughout most of the week, causing us to miss Wednesday evening services as well. Bummer!

On Sunday, February 3rd, we followed up on an invitation to drop in on Faith Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. What a glorious time of worship we had! Jason was given a few minutes to tell about our calling, and one sweet couple even placed a love gift in our hand as we were leaving. Every part of the service was outstanding—the music, the Sunday School lesson, the sermon. It was a blessing to be a part of such a service, and it did our hearts good to hear such wonderful reminders from God’s Word.

After the service, the church secretary presented us with a love offering, and the pastor and his wife took us out to eat. We had such a sweet time of fellowship together with this dear couple. By the end of the meal, they felt like life-long friends. What a precious day!

We ended the day by dropping in on one of our supporting churches, Truth Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. It was an honor to take part in their communion service and to reunite with many friends there. We were also invited to join them for a dinner this week, so we’re looking forward to that as well.

I also wanted to mention an unexpected blessing. When we received our monthly statement from our mission board, we were surprised to see a large donation given by an individual. I won’t say more because I don’t want to disclose more than the person would be comfortable with, but I will say that we were amazed at God’s goodness. With Jason’s work slowing down to a crawl, it has provided more time for him to be on the phone and book meetings, but the lack of work also means small paychecks. God knew what we needed and provided above and beyond what we could ask or think. Isn’t that just the way He is? We are so blessed!
