The Pant-y-dwr Show

Last Saturday was probably the busiest day of the year for our small community of Pant-y-dwr. The Pant-y-dwr Show brought people in from all over mid-Wales. There were games and activities for kids, various shows and contests, and a few vendors. The weather was very Welsh as we endured off-and-on showers for most of the afternoon.

To be honest, we were surprised by the turnout. With Pant-y-dwr being such a small place, we didn't know what to expect for attendance. We were shocked! The blessing is the stalls for this event are currently free. You bring your own table and tent, and they provide you a place to set up for no charge. We're looking forward to setting up a stall next year and passing out Christian literature, small toys for children, bottled water, and other incentives for people to stop by and listen to what we have to say.

The one part of the day that was so discouraging was the abundance of alcohol. The show boasted one small ice cream truck, a medium-sized food truck, and an extensive alcohol wagon. The line there never ended, and everywhere we looked, we saw people walking around with two or three large cups of beer. Honestly, the smell of the alcohol bothered me more than that of the livestock present.

Attending events like this helps us to get to know the people. We recognized several individuals from our neighborhood and met a few others. They also serve to remind us why we're here. These people need the Lord. Yes, they’re kind and friendly, but they are living lives that are not honoring to the Lord, and they're destined for an eternal Hell. Yes, each time we leave one of these events, we are more burdened for the souls of Wales.
