Heading West

We are currently rolling down the road on our way to a few meetings in Texas. I thought Ohio had some of the worst roads in the country, but let me tell you, Louisiana is making its way to the top of the list. We have bounced and bumped all the way across the state, and I’m praying the roads in Texas are better.

Anyway, we had a great time last week in Fernandina Beach, FL with Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church. They took such great care of us— allowing us to park in their parking lot under the shade tree, feeding us dinner each night after service, and giving us the opportunity to share our burden for Wales. We were blessed to meet some other missionaries and a lot of devoted church members. We also got to take part in the dessert auction on Saturday evening, which was loads of fun. All in all, it was a blessed trip.

We left out after the auction Saturday night and made our way back to South Carolina. We arrived at our first stop around 2:00 on Sunday morning, slept a few hours, then went to church in Gray Court, SC. This was an “announced drop-in,” but the church still gave us a generous love offering and invited us to come back at another time to present our ministry. We were overwhelmed by their kindness and enjoyed reuniting with some old friends.

After grabbing some lunch, we drove another hour and a half to our next meeting in Pickens, SC. Once again, the church welcomed us with open arms and gave us the opportunity to tell about our calling. At the end of the service, they voted to take us on for support. That makes seven churches to take us on for monthly support since we got back on the road after the COVID slowdown in March, April, and most of May. Seven churches! Our support level has increased 6-7% in just the past few weeks. God is so good, and it’s looking like He might have everything in order for us to get to Wales in the spring. We’re still praying that way!

While we were home for a couple of days, we saw some family and picked up all our mail and packages that had been accumulating. It was a bit like Christmas as we opened cards, letters, and packages.

Wednesday, we headed out again, making our way toward Texas. We stopped over in LaGrange, GA where we visited another church and had the opportunity to visit the Biblical History Center. It was like walking through ancient Israel. They have full-size replicas of Israelite tents, burial chambers, Golgotha, a typical four-room house, the city center, and so much more. It was fascinating, and we learned so much from our time there. It was really awesome!

This morning, we were on the road by 4:00. Now, when I say “we,” I mean Jason got up and started driving. I actually stayed in bed another few hours—just one more benefit to traveling in a motorhome. We still have a long road ahead of us, but we’re looking forward to our meetings in Texas and to catching up with a few friends we met the last time we visited the area.

If all goes according to plan, by next Sunday, we’ll be in California. We’re so excited by the many doors the Lord has opened for us, and we can’t wait to see how He will continue to work.

Thank you for your prayers. Please keep it up. We have a lot of miles to cover and a lot of meetings to be in. We need protection from dangers—both physical and spiritual—and continued strength for the journey ahead of us.
