Back on Track
As you can see from our updates (or lack thereof), December was a slow month as far as our mission efforts are concerned. With the Christmas season in full swing, it’s difficult to book meetings for the month and even to get ahold of pastors. It’s also a bit daunting to do drop-ins during December because many churches alter service times because of special programs. Still, we enjoyed spending the month with our church family and being a part of the yearly Christmas play. The real blessing is that God honored our previous mission efforts as two churches and one couple contacted us with the news they were planning to take us on for support beginning in January. Praise the Lord!
Now, as the new year has begun, we’re back on track booking and attending meetings. We had planned to drop in on a church for Sunday morning (January 6th), but both Jason and our dog, Barnabas, were up all Saturday night with stomach issues (which means, of course, I was up too). So, we used Sunday morning and afternoon to rest and recover because we had a scheduled meeting that evening at Harmony Baptist Church here in Greenville.
What a precious little church this is! We visited them in early November of 2018 as drop-ins and truly enjoyed our time there. As before, we felt like family and were able to take part in the service. I played the piano and sang a special, and Jason presented the ministry and preached a moving sermon on assurance. God blessed us with a generous love offering (from the church and an individual) and also allowed me to sell a few books while we were there.
It was a refreshing start to our new year of deputation. What a joy and privilege to be with such sweet people, and to top it off, to be less than five minutes from home. I can’t say it enough—God is good!
