Another Church Takes Us On for Support
On Sunday, January 20th, we were privileged to spend the day with the precious people at White Horse Heights Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. This church holds a special place in our hearts as they were one of the main contributors toward the funds we raised last year to make our trip to the UK. In a way, they had a part in the Lord’s calling us to be missionaries to Wales because their generous donations helped make it possible for us to go to Wales in May. We couldn’t wait to be with them and share how the Lord moved in our hearts during and after that trip.
When we first arrived, one of the ladies stopped me and commented, “You look familiar.” I smiled and nodded. “Yes, ma’am. We’ve been here before.” What happened next literally brought tears to my eyes. She looked at me a little closer and said, “Dana?” I was shocked she knew my name, but before I could tell her so, she continued. “I have your card. I’ve been praying for you.” Let me tell you, there is nothing in the world like hearing someone tell you they’ve been praying for you, and I knew it was true because she called me by name. If nothing else had happened the rest of the service, my soul had already been blessed. But, of course, the blessings didn’t stop there.
Both the Sunday School lesson and the morning message spoke directly to my heart. In some way, it was like I felt closer to God than I had in a while. He was speaking directly to me, and I couldn’t help but listen. Then, of course, there was the sweet fellowship with the church family, which was extended due to an invitation for us to join them for dinner on the grounds. We had such a wonderful time. We didn’t want to see it end.
On Sunday evening, we returned for our scheduled meeting. Jason presented our burden for Wales and preached a moving message. Though it wasn’t the first time I’d heard him preach that message, my heart was moved by it, which led to the song I selected to sing at the close of the service. All in all, it was a sweet time of prayer, worship, and fellowship.
As Jason and I were making our way back to our display table, something took place that hadn’t happened yet in our missionary journey. Pastor Dean said, “I’d like to make a motion to the church that we take this couple on for support.” The motions were made. All were in agreement. And just like that, we had another supporting church. This was the first time a church has taken us on the very day we were with them. We were overwhelmed and speechless. Isn’t God good!!!!!
