Trying to Catch Our Breath

As you can tell, we’re still trying to get caught up on our updates. Who knew traveling these many miles would tire the body so much? I guess there’s a reason why the majority of missionaries on deputation are half our age. Still, God has been good, and we have no complaints. . .a few aches and pains maybe, but no complaints.

On Sunday, October 28th, we were privileged to be with the good people of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Greenville. This was the first time since beginning deputation that I (Dana) was able to attend a ladies’ Sunday School class, and it was such a blessing. The teacher even gave me a few minutes to share our burden for Wales. This was a first for me, but I cherished the opportunity to do so. I also greatly enjoyed the lesson shared that morning.

In the morning service, I was invited to sing and Jason was given a few minutes to present our mission work. It was a blessed service filled with heartfelt singing (which is becoming less common in our churches), a great sermon, and wonderful fellowship. Afterwards, we stayed for a fundraising dinner in the church fellowship building. The time was filled with good food and lively conversation. We even met a few old friends, and I was reunited with a former student (talk about feeling old!).

As if the day wasn’t blessed enough, just as we were leaving, a young couple stated they personally wanted to take us on for support. We were blown away by their generosity!

For the evening service, we dropped in at Choice Hills Baptist Church in Greenville. We had a wonderful time with the people there and, even though we didn’t have a set meeting, the pastor was kind enough to give Jason a few minutes to present our burden for Wales. That was another unexpected surprise, as was the invitation at the end of the service to go downstairs and pick out a few items from their missionary closet.

If we are learning anything through this new stage of our lives, it is how faithful God is to provide for His children. We’ve seen it all through our lives, but it seems as if God has stepped it up a notch lately, and it’s such a blessing to see our efforts rewarded. I know it won’t always be this way, but for us at this point in our journey, it certainly is an encouragement!
